I, Rudrendu Kumar Swain, would like to place my nomination for Treasurer of Student Executive Council, Xavier Institute of Management, XIM University, 2022-23. I am a Chemical Engineer with a year of work experience in a steel manufacturing giant.

I hail from a middle-class family and being the eldest son, my cousins have always looked up to me as a role model in their lives, which has taught me the value of taking responsibility for my actions. The continual pressure of being looked up to by my cousins and having my actions emulated by them has molded me into the responsible and accountable person I am today. I utilized these learnings during my college days (UG) to be the Chief Coordinator of a Techno-Cultural fest where I had to manage the entire funds for the fest and the numerous groups that were functioning under my direct supervision. Managing the funds for a fest for around 350 students gave me critical insights about handling large sums of money and preparing a budget for an event. Working with a tight budget taught me to think logically, which helped me minimize expenditures, find methods to raise funds, and distribute funds to the appropriate event. Aside from these lessons, this experience taught me the importance of teamwork and handling crises.

In my previous job, monitoring the work and negotiating with senior authorities, particularly for the safe working conditions of 25 employees in my shift, allowed me to develop the critical skill of dealing with higher officials. Regularly supervising the work and safety of 25 employees has greatly aided me in performing my obligations as a Class Representative at XIM, Bhubaneswar, where I have learned the virtues of dispute resolution and working under strict deadlines. Working with the other batch representatives as a team and representing the entire batch as one functional unit has taught me the importance of teamwork and a sense of unity.

Following our batch's brief stay on campus for one month, conducting events in an offline mode in the following year will be the most difficult challenge. This challenge will demand the treasurer's capable leadership and skills in preparing the budget in consultation with the Class Representatives, Cultural Representatives, Treasurers of various Committees, and the Student Executive Council team. My key objective as the treasurer would be to develop the budget for Xpressions'22 and the budget for the entire year and make the whole process as open as possible to incorporate the entire batch.

I believe I have the right attributes and expertise to take on the responsibilities of Student Executive Council Treasurer. I am confident that if given the opportunity, I would accomplish the job admirably while balancing my academics.
