It has been six months since I have held the post of a Cultural Representative, and writing this SOP takes me back to the day when I pitched for the same. I remember I had said that as a Culrep, apart from carrying out the duties and responsibilities that come with it, I want to be a safe space for my classmates, a person they can find comfort in, and today I can confidently say that I did get to be that, not just limited to Section – A but also to people outside of it. And this is my reason to apply for Student Executive Council - a thought that I can do something for the batch, replicate the impact I was able to make in my class.
And to fulfil this purpose, putting up my candidature for Treasurer is my intent to apply the skills I have acquired all this while. Coming from Commerce and Audit background equips me with the ability to handle the technicalities of the position. Through various PORs held during school and under graduation, I’ve learned how to strike a balance, negotiate, make sure everyone is heard, understand the requirements and logistics, and take care of the welfare of all the stakeholders.
My vision as a Treasurer is to create a comfortable space where every committee can thrive, where there is a smooth run of student activities, and nobody misses out, given how much we are already missing out on due to the pandemic. I would want to take forward the transparency and fair judgment that the current SEC has given way to. Lastly, I believe there is nothing like being able to acknowledge, respect, and represent diverse viewpoints, something that has been part of my growth. And that is how I know it will reflect in my work like it did in the past six months.
